BRACKETS FOR HOLDING LIGHT AND MIC
You can use an under camera bracket or the Hot shoe

The Mini Rover is a great under camera bracket with a mic holder.. Your LED light will be on top of the camera, and your Sennheiser ME64  or ME66 by it's side.

Get a Light for your camera

Hands down the best lights for portable camcorders are the LED lights from LITEPANELS.  The cheaper brands are tempting but just not as good. Two basic models..both with dimmers and CTO (red-orange gel).  These are BLUE (outdoor color temp) lights..which means when your shooting inside with indoor light sources..you must add the FULL CTO gel on to the light....OUTDOORS remove the CTO gel..the light naturally matches outdoor light. It's great for adding light in the shade to help separate your subject from the background. There are two models..the smaller MICRO and the larger MICRO PRO

I always add a piece of 1/4 or 1/2 Tough Spun to the light to help soften it

When ordering MAKE SURE you tell the store what camera it is for...there are different mounts for different cameras....if you have a Canon camera be sure you get the Canon mount not the Sony one.

For the Canon small cameras....I like this small lightfor the HFS10 or HFS20 cameras...they run off the camera bcanon lightattery...These are RED lights and so you must put 1/4 or 1/2  BLUE GEL on them when shooting with daylight...plus 1/4 or 1/2 TOUGH SPUN is mandatory for these lights or else they look like a freight train light......  below is tough spun and a light

tough spunGo for the LED SOLUTION....plus they run on cheap long lasting AA batteries..how can you beat that!

Shotgun Mics
Shot Gun Mics help capture audio from a distance, and are also used for news ,marketing or internet  "Quick Interview set-ups"

Click on photos for more info and prices.

For smaller cameras I suggest the Sennheiser ME64 with the K6 Power supply
me64

For larger cameras such as the Sony FX Series, Canon XH-A1s, or Panasonic P-2 Cameras I suggest the Sennhesier ME66 with K6 Power Supply.
me66

You can also purchase used Sennheiser ME80 mics...you might get lucky and get a good one..batteries must be special ordered for this mic
ebay...

Be sure to get a wind screen

This is my favorite solution..Lectrosonics with a Tram Mic

letrasonics wireless
Some wireless package includes a XLR PLUG sennheiser butt plug which is a transmitter that can plug directly into a sound board or PA system..great for recording weddings, events, music.

The Below kit is kinda cool and only $1,600..includes 2 wireless systems and a "stick-mic" for reporters.

I have been using BeachTek for Video cameras and have enjoyed great audio with this model.

THESE ALLOW YOU TO HAVE MULTIPLE CHANNELS OF AUDIO RECORDED DISCREETLY.  WHICH MEANS THEY ARE KEPT SEPARATE - ALLOWING YOU MORE FLEXIBILITY IN THE FINAL MIX DURING EDITING..  THEY ALSO HAVE PROFESSIONAL XLR AUDIO INPUTS...REQUIRED BY THE BEST PERFORMING MICS.
