Painting with Light and Organizing raw footage Tips From Adrian Belic

Once in a while we all need a kick in the ass to finish our projects. I find that Inspiration works best in motivating me...more than anything else, including guilt and tabulation of all the months that have gone by without working on your project.

For motivation, I suggest clicking in the middle of this page and watching our video clip from Adrian Belic's Documentary story telling workshop. He is the best... I love this guy's energy and the entire One hour DVD.His enthusiasm, experience and real life top credits..and his desire to share and teach others....makes me want to tackle that pile of DV tapes that need to get logged and captured.

One of the most inspiring nights took place here two weeks ago at Adrian's Workshop. We recorded the entire three hours on tape. Adrian gives practical advice, answers student questions (which might be similar to yours).

Click on the link below to watch a 4 minute clip from that evening. The topic of this clip is "Organizing your footage before the Edit".

Adrian will be offering a limited enrollment class on August 14-18. During this weekend workshop students are encouraged to bring rough edits ,and even their project's hard drive. Adrian will work with the group to help you move your project forward, while sharing lessons in Advanced Documenatary filmmaking.

We will provide free Final Cut Pro edit systems during class for students to re- cut while the workshop is in session. Bring your editor for the weekend and receive a special discount. Course registration is $495 and space is limited.

Adrian and his brother Roko co-directed Genghis Blues. The Film was one of Five Features nominated for an Academy Award in 2000 (Best Documentary). The film also won the 2000 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award.
